I want to decorate my new master bedroom in a southwestern style. I plan on using accessories with bold southwest colors such as, oranges, yellows, turquoise. I have cathedral ceilings with wood beams that are not yet stained. What color should I stain them? Most of my furniture is an oak color. What color should I paint the walls and what color carpeting should I install?

It's always best to start with a neutral palette. We would suggest using cream colored carpet or wood floors. We like butterscotch on the walls and dark stained wood beams. This would provide rich, strong contrast that will enhance the colors of your Southwest theme. Have fun choosing those bright colored accessories!
